Overview
MCM (Modified Clay Material) flexible stone is a thin, bendable veneer made from real mineral and stone powder blended with clay and an inorganic polymer, then shaped and cured at low temperature into sheets roughly 2–9 mm thick. It keeps the depth, grain and tactile feel of natural stone while bending around curves and weighing only 3.0–10.5 kg/m² — a fraction of solid stone or tile.
Because it is flexible and light, MCM solves problems that rigid materials cannot: it wraps columns and radiused walls, it adds almost no dead load to a façade or retrofit, and it ships and installs with far lower handling cost. What Is MCM Flexible Stone Made Of?
The raw material is genuine inorganic content — crushed stone, quartz and clay — not a plastic imitation. Those minerals are milled, mixed with a small amount of an inorganic binding polymer, extruded into a thin sheet and cured. The result is an inorganic, odour-free surface that behaves more like stone than like vinyl or foam.
Two properties matter most to specifiers:
- Flexibility. At 2–9 mm the sheet bends to follow curved substrates, bullnosed edges and uneven walls without cracking.
- Lightness. At 3.0–10.5 kg/m² it is light enough for over-cladding existing walls, podium structures and lightweight partition systems.

Where MCM Flexible Stone Is Used
MCM suits almost any vertical surface where stone is wanted but weight, curvature or speed of install is a constraint:
- Exterior façades — light over-cladding for new builds and renovations (see exterior façade applications).
- Interior feature walls — lobbies, retail, hospitality and residential accent walls.
- Curved and radiused surfaces — columns, arches and rounded reveals that rigid stone cannot follow.
- Retrofit and recladding — adds negligible load to ageing structures.

Is MCM flexible stone real stone?
Yes — the surface is made from genuine milled stone and mineral powder bound with an inorganic polymer. It is not a printed plastic film.
How thick and heavy is it?
Sheets are 2–9 mm thick and weigh 3.0–10.5 kg/m², roughly one-tenth the weight of solid stone of the same area.
Does it meet fire codes?

Can it be used outdoors?
